چکیده

The timing of reproduction is a key determinant of Ž tness. Here, we develop parameterized integral projection models of size-related owering for the monocarpic perennial Oenothera glazioviana and use these to predict the evolutionarily stable strategy (ESS) for owering. For the most part there is excellent agreement between the model predictions and the results of quantitative Ž eld studies. However, the model predicts a much steeper relationship between plant size and the probability of owering than observed in the Ž eld, indicating selection for a ‘threshold size’ owering function. Elasticity and sensitivity analysis of population growth rate l and net reproductive rate R0 are used to identify the critical traits that determine Ž tness and control the ESS for owering. Using the Ž tted model we calculate the Ž tness landscape for invading genotypes and show that this is characterized by a ridge of approximately equal Ž tness. The implications of these results for the maintenance of genetic variation are discussed.

Differences in Copper Absorption and Accumulation between Copper-Exclusion and Copper-Enrichment Plants: A Comparison of Structure and Physiological Responses

Differences in copper (Cu) absorption and transport, physiological responses and structural characteristics between two types of Cu-resistant plants, Oenothera glazioviana (Cu-exclusion type) and Elsholtzia haichowensis (Cu-enrichment type), were investigated in the present study. The results indicated the following: (1) After 50 μM Cu treatment, the Cu ratio in the xylem vessels of E. haichowe...

Mutational Pressure Drives Evolution of Synonymous Codon Usage in Genetically Distinct Oenothera plastomes

Background: Most of the amino acids are encoded by more than one codon, termed as synonymous codons. Synonymous codon usage is not random as it is unique to species. In each amino acid family, some synonymous codons are preferred and this is referred to as synonymous codon usage bias (SCUB). Trends associated with evolution of SCUB and factors influencing its diversification in plastomes of gen...

Fast System Matrix Calculation in CT Iterative Reconstruction

Introduction: Iterative reconstruction techniques provide better image quality and have the potential for reconstructions with lower imaging dose than classical methods in computed tomography (CT). However, the computational speed is major concern for these iterative techniques. The system matrix calculation during the forward- and back projection is one of the most time- cons...

Application of the Min-Projection and the Model Predictive Strategies for Current Control of Three-Phase Grid-Connected Converters: a Comparative Study

This paper provides a detailed comparative study concerning the performance of min-projection strategy (MPS) and model predictive control (MPC) systems to control the three-phase grid connected converters. To do so, first, the converter is modeled as a switched linear system. Then, the feasibility of the MPS technique is investigated and its stability criterion is derived as a lower limit on th...
